Eternal SecurityHave you ever wondered if it is possible to be saved? What does it mean to be saved? How can we be saved? Why do we need to be saved? As you read on to find the answers to these questions, I want to ask you one more question. If you and I both died this very moment and we stood at the gates of heaven; what would your answer be to the following question? Why should we let you two into heaven? The Bible has the answers to all of these questions. Read on and find eternal security.
What's Love Got To Do With It?
The starting place for finding eternal security is with God Himself. Eternal security is a result of God's love toward the humans that He created. John 3:16 states; "For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." Today, you and I can have hope because God loves us. If God loves us, then what is all the fuss about? Read on!
In the New Testament book of Romans, we find these words in 3:23; "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
What does this verse say?
In Romans 6:23 we read; "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
What does this verse say?
In the gospel of John we find the words of Christ as He says in 3:3; "I tell you the truth, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again."
In this passage we see why Jesus came to earth. That you and I could be born again. We can now start to understand the problem. Our sin separates us from God. We can picture us standing on our side of the grand canyon and God on the other side. We are separately by a gulf that we cannot span on our own. How can we get to where God is? Read on!
In John 14:6 Jesus gives us the means to salvation. John 14:6 states; "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Knowing Jesus is God's son or knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Jesus in a personal way. Knowing about Jesus is simply "head knowledge". God desires to have a personal relationship with every human ever born. How do we have a personal relationship with God. Read on!
Romans 10:9-11 states; "That if you confess with your mouth,"Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." For it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame."
What does salvation bring? It brings eternal security and a new purpose for your life. 1 Corinthians 5:15 states; "And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again."
So, what would your answer be for getting into heaven? The only correct answer is that you have asked Jesus Christ to forgive you from your sins, to come into your heart because you believe that He died for you and rose again and you want Christ to be the Lord of your life.
God invites you to pray this single prayer so that you will be saved and know for sure that you are eternally secure. Pray out loud as you pray these words. Remember that you must believe them in your heart. (see below)
Sinner's Prayer
Heavenly Father, I have sinned against You. I want forgiveness for all my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again. Father, I give you my life to do with as You wish. I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and into my heart. This I ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
